Geldof wife’s secret 6-year affair with actor Rupert
61-yr-old tells Piers he feeks ‘no guilt’ at adulterous past
RUPERT Everett has “no guilt” over going behind Bob Geldof‘s back during his sixyear affair with Paula Yates.
The actor had a passionate affair with the TV presenter during her turbulent 20-year relationship with the rocker.
The 61-year-old revealed he was “in love” with Paula and simply “ignored” her commitment to Bob.
Paula, who died in 2000 from a heroin overdose aged 41, tied the knot with Geldof in 1986 but their rocky union crumbled in 1996.
The pair were plagued by a slew of infidelity rumours during their marriage.
Revealing that his steamy romance with Paula took place “before and after” her relationship with Bob, Rupert appears on tonight’s Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
He said: “We were very, very close, I must say, for a long time, and she’s someone that I adored and still do. I think I was in love with her. I adored her.”
Piers then asked: “How did you square off Bob in all this?”
Rupert told the presenter he “just ignored him” before admitting that Bob was aware of the affair the pair were having.
And when quizzed on whether he regrets the affair, Rupert was quick to say “no”.
He added: “I don’t know, I think it would be for her to feel guilty, not me.”
Rupert first admitted to his long-running affair with Paula in a 2006 interview.
The actor – who has since come out as gay – admitted the steamy romance saw him become “mystified” by his relationships with women.
He said at the time: “I am mystified by my heterosexual affairs, but then I am mystified by most of my relationships.”
I adored her and still do. I think I was in love with her. I adored her RUPERT EVERETT
