FOREST JOB NOTT A DUD

Reid: Top bosses WILL be interested

Championship: KO 3pm

BY DAVE ARMITAGE STAND-IN boss Steven Reid says top managers will still be falling over themselves to try and land the Nottingham Forest job.

Reid takes charge for the match at Huddersfield as the 21st figure to look after the Forest first team in the last decade.

The 40-year-old has been named interim boss after the sacking of Chris Hughton and is under no illusions as to the size of the task.

Hughton could not muster a win in the seven games so far, leaving the double former champions of Europe rooted to the bottom of the Championship with one point.

Reid insists it’s still a top job and dismissed the suggestion that it’s fast becoming the vacancy that most people will steer well clear of.

He said: “I very much doubt that.

“Being at the club, you do feel the history. It’s still a huge club. Obviously there’s been lots of change over the years but it’s still an attractive job. I’m sure the club will be inundated with applicants. It’s a job some of the biggest and best names will be attracted to.”

Meanwhile, former Blackburn and West Brom defender Reid is tasked with trying to turn things around.

He said: “It’s been a tough 36 hours. Chris brought me here and we spoke last night. I don’t think there’s a lot more that could have been done.

“The hard work is there for all to see on the training ground. But it’s all about results and unfortunately they’ve just not been there.

“We need to get results sooner rather than later, starting at Huddersfield, hopefully. We’ve had an open and honest meeting with the players.

“They know this is not good enough. But we haven’t got time to be down about things.

“Chris losing his job is disappointing and, yes, it’s sad.

“But we have to get out of this position as soon as possible. We’ve done everything we could to turn it around – but the results just haven’t been good enough.

“Everyone knows that. It’s there for all to see. The players have to take responsibility as well.

“If you were a fan coming into the training ground, you wouldn’t be able to tell where we are as the

atmosphere is so good.

“But when it comes to getting a result, it just hasn’t happened and Chris has paid the price.”
