LAGE IS IN NO HARRY TO LET GO OF TRAORE

WOLVES have told Spurs they will “protect” Adama Traore in the way the Londoners fought for Harry Kane last summer.

Spain international Traore is out of contract next year and has turned down a new deal at Molineux. He came off the bench to open his account for the season against Southampton on Saturday and is pushing to start at Brentford today despite the uncertainty over his future.

Spurs, who fought off interest from Manchester City for Kane, remain keen on Traore after a bid of about £15million was rejected.

Wolves this week signed Portuguese winger Chiquinho for £3m, but manager Bruno Lage (above) is in no rush to lose Traore.

He said: “I don’t know how much they offered. I will not talk about money.

“I can see we have a top player with us. Adama is a lovely guy. This is sometimes about business.

“I remember how much Tottenham protected Harry Kane, their main striker, in the beginning of the season. They protected the player to stay with them. We will protect our player because we believe a lot in Adama.

“I will protect my players and for me the way they work, the value is very high.”

Lage insists Traore (above) is not agitating to go.

He added: “I don’t see any difference in his behaviour, his mentality or the way he works.

“I am happy with him, he continues as the same player until the end of the month.

“He has just one more year left, the club talk with him and he talks with the club and they will decide the future.

“He is focused and ready and the way he jumped from the bench and helped the team with his first goal is a good example of

Adama and the relationship between me and him.

“For now he is with us and the other players and I am preparing for the game with them.”

Wolves, who are eighth, go to Brentford with four wins in five games, including the FA Cup, and have conceded just three goals in 10 matches.
