PUKKI’S PRAISE FOR ADAM

- BY ROBIN MARSHALL

REPUBLIC of Ireland international striker Adam Idah has been hailed by his front-line partner at Norwich City, Teemu Pukki.

Idah has started to establish himself in the side as Norwich battle for Premier League survival.

His impact is not lost on Pukki who prospered from the presence of Idah in Wednesday 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.

It was Idah who set-up Pukki’s first minute goal at Carrow Road and he said: “Adam is great in the air and I’m not. It gives us another option whenever we are under pressure to play it long. Of course, we need to play more on the ground as well.

“Adam set the goal up for me perfectly. It was a nice goal from all of us, and that’s important for us as forwards to do those kinds of things together and be close and give assists to each other. It gives us all confidence.”

Pukki was satisfied with a point even though it meant Norwich slipping back into the bottom three.

He added: “I think we can be happy with the point, especially how the game went.

“Of course, going in the lead and then losing it, it’s always a bit disappointing but they were better than us so we can be happy with the point.

“We defended well. They had the penalty and the goal they scored, which isn’t really a chance but a great goal from Zaha. But other than that, we didn’t give them many chances and that’s a good sign.”

Norwich will face Manchester

City next at Carrow Road on Saturday and Pukki added: “We know Man City is one of the best teams in the world. So it will not be easy, but we need to go into every game with three points in our head.

“It doesn’t matter who we play. We know it will be a tough afternoon and we need to be at our very best to get something out of it.

“But we’ve done it here before, many of us here now were there last time. We just need to believe we can do it.”
