Fury must not let fire cool says Warren

- BY CHRIS MCKENNA

FRANK WARREN believes Tyson Fury can fight for as long as he wants if he makes a U-turn on his retirement talk.

The Gypsy King’s promoter will not put any pressure on his man to fight on if his heart is not in it, after Fury insisted he would quit following his knock-out victory against Dillian Whyte in their WBC heavyweight clash on Saturday.

But Warren would love to see his man become undisputed champion by beating the winner of the fight between WBA, IBF and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

Warren said: “I don’t think he has reached his pinnacle to be honest, he looked even better the other night.

“When he gets back in the gym he might think: ‘This is good, I’m feeling good’ and then he might think: ‘What am I in the gym for, I may as well have a fight.’ I’m not going to push him.

“If his heart is genuinely not in it then I wouldn’t want him to do it because it’s dangerous.”

Usyk outpointed Joshua in September and they are set for a rematch this summer. Warren would love Joshua to come out on top but he is far from confident.

He said: “You do want to see the undisputed fight. I would have loved it to be Joshua. Can you imagine those two at Wembley in an all-british affair?”

Bookies make Usyk 2-5 favourite to beat Joshua, and say Fury would be 4-11 favourite to beat his fellow Brit.

Whyte, has claimed the push from Fury (above) after he was caught with an uppercut is what caused his knock-out at Wembley on Saturday.

He said: “When the uppercut landed I was buzzed, but he full on pushed me, I fell over and hit my head on the canvas, which is illegal.

“But as usual they let Tyson Fury do what he wants and get away with it.

“I should have been allowed extra time to recover.”
