STER FLY IS ON THE MENU FOR TUCHEL

- BY JOHN CROSS & DARREN LEWIS

RAHEEM STERLING is today expecting the go-ahead to fly out to the USA so he can join Chelsea’s pre-season tour.

England star Sterling, 27, underwent a medical in London last night after the Blues and Manchester City agreed a £50million deal.

Sterling (above) will sign a five-year contract – with an option of a further 12 months – having already agreed personal terms on a move.

He will get a rise on the £300,000 a week he was on at Manchester City and will become one of the best-paid players in the Premier League, as well as Chelsea’s biggest earner.

It is a major coup for Chelsea, who have arrived in Los Angeles for the first leg of their tour.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is in the market for City’s Nathan Ake.

Matthijs de Ligt of Juventus, a target for Bayern Munich, and

Leeds star Raphinha, wanted by Barcelona, are also on his hit list.

Ben Chilwell admits Chelsea must improve their consistency if they are to take the fight to Liverpool and City next season.

The two Premier League giants had the title race to themselves last term with the west Londoners out of the picture before Christmas.

Chilwell – who missed big chunks of last season with injury – said: “City and Liverpool have set the bar for maybe the last five years. But I’d say we’re the closest to them and aspiring to get on the same level as them.

“We showed in patches last season we could compete with them, but it’s that consistency they’ve shown — they’re not just one-season wonders, they’ve done it for the last five years.

“That’s where we’re trying to get to.”
