RTE series tipped to be worldwide success
TOP actress Charlene Mckenna is to star in RTE’S latest crime drama, tipped to be a global success.
Clean Sweep is the next big thriller TV hit for the national broadcaster, following the success of such shows as Kin, Hidden Assets and Love/ Hate.
Award-winning Mckenna – of Peaky Blinders and Bloodlands – takes the lead role as Shelly Mohan.
The Monaghan star plays a housewife and mother who kills her former partner in crime when he threatens to expose her dark secret.
Her husband is a detective – played by Jimmy’s Hall star Barry Ward – on the hunt for the killer.
The show will be a key part of RTE’S new season line-up and is expected to be a worldwide hit.
The international production, in association with Germany’s ZDF studios and Canada’s Incendo, will premiere in Ireland and on streaming service Sundance Now.
Clean Sweep, which is co-produced in Ireland by Shinawil, is written by American screenwriter Gary Tieche and Irish writer Francesca Harris.
