Early chance to make a Point or two

THURSDAY kicks off with a typically competitive Goodwood handicap over 1m2f (1.50), a race we’re paying five places in, and we’ll be taking on

Migdam towards the head of the betting.

There look to be plenty of unexposed types in there and the one we like is Warren Point.

Migdam looks a dodgy market leader but the same can’t be said about Royal Scotsman in the Richmond Stakes (2.25), who looks rock solid and should take all the beating.

New London was impressive at Newmarket and if he’s to prove a St Leger horse he really needs to be winning the Gordon Stakes (3.00 but we fancy a small upset in the form of West Wind Blows.

Nashwa should and probably will win the Nassau Stakes (3.35).

She only scrambled home in the Prix de Diane, though, and she looks a touch short on that basis so we’ll be out to get her.

The seven-furlong nursery (4.10) looks another tricky puzzle to solve and with five places on offer, we’re keen on Seductive Power, from a yard that has won this twice in the last five years.

The five-furlong handicap (4.45) isn’t easy either and there’s plenty of value likely to be on offer. We’re not a fan of Dusky Prince despite coming into this on a fourtimer and instead we like the chances of Get Ahead and Resilience. Punters very much bridged the gap yesterday with the first two races particularly costly thanks mainly to paying six places.

Oscula was actually a small winner in the book but the other placed runners weren’t quite as rosy, though we did get some back on Trillium in the Molecomb Stakes.

We fancied the Richard Hannon filly to upset the favourite and so she did, meaning we’re still ahead going into day three.
