DESPITE their eye being firmly on the battle to stay up, UCD are gunning for another decent run in the FAI Cup.

Currently bottom of the Premier Division, College made the quarter-finals last year before losing a cracking game 3-2 to Waterford.

Andy Myler’s side would then reap revenge on Blues when beating them in the promotion play-off final.

League champions Cockhill Celtic tonight with gaffer Myler conscious of avoiding a banana skin.

“We won’t be taking this lightly,” insisted Myler (above). “We know they are a decent side. Willie O’connor my assistant is an ex-cockhill Celtic player and coach. So we’ll have our homework done on them.

“We want to get a run in the cup. You don’t have to win too many games to go deep into the cup.

“We know that from last year when we were beaten in the quarter-final and very unlucky not to get to the semis.

We’ll be looking to go as far as we can. You try to win every game you can as it’s a good habit.”

Buncrana-based nine-in-a-row USL champions Cockhill travel out of their season.

“It’s always good to play a Premier Division club,” said gaffer Gavin Cullen (left), an ex-finn Harps keeper. “It’s going to be a tough game but we have nothing to lose. We’ll give it a go and give them a game but we’re not expecting a lot.

“It hasn’t been great with us out of season and having players unavailable. We’re only back a few weeks and it’s hard to ask boys not to be going on holiday after a long season.”
