BENTLEY’S REVVED UP BY ROBINS

- BY IAN WINROW

DAN BENTLEY has dismissed claims that Bristol City are set for another season of struggle.

The Robins languished in the bottom half last season and have been touted as possible relegation candidates.

But the keeper, 29, is determined to shut out the noise ahead of the opening day trip to face Hull.

Bentley (above) said: “I don’t have predictions. Our remit is to do our jobs on the pitch and not worry about anyone else.

“We will do our diligence on everybody else and who we play against, that is a formality.

“We won’t be worrying about who is expected to be at the top, who is expected to be near the bottom and we certainly won’t be listening to any of the social noise that comes with ‘Bristol City are expected to be 18th’.

“We are certainly not listening to that, we’re doing our jobs in the week to make sure we’re prepared for each game as it comes.

“We’re way more glass half-full than what we were last year. If we can get the things right like game management, how to sustain periods of pressure and having the mentality to stand up to that pressure, it will set us in good stead.”

Hull keeper Nathan Baxter is determined to make up for a frustrating second half of the season after signing up for a another loan spell with the Tigers.

The Chelsea ace, 23, said: “It wasn’t easy for me last year as I broke my hand and then I was on the bench. But I believe in the manager and I believe in the owner.

“You want to go somewhere you are happy and I wanted to come back to somewhere that felt like home, which this does.”
