A BUSINESSMAN has told a judge that his ex-partner put him under pressure to join “swinger parties” during their relationship.

At the Family Law Court, Judge Mary Larkin granted a Protection Order to the man after he outlined a series of allegations against his ex-partner.

The man has got one after his ex obtained a Protection Order against him earlier this month at a separate court hearing.

In her own statement, the woman alleged that he “is making up bizarre stories, hoping to discredit me”.

She told Judge Alec Gabbett “I found out that he was taking Class A drugs” and that her ex-partner’s drug of choice is cocaine.

She said: “He has refused to pay me back money I invested in the home and now I find myself with no money and homeless.

“His behaviour has become erratic and I have moved out of the home we shared to keep myself and my child safe.”

She alleged her ex has been sending her “abusive and threatening text messages”.

Under questioning from Judge

Gabbett, the woman said that her ex has never hit her. She said: “I am really scared of him now because he is a completely different person.”

However, in his own sworn statement, the man said his ex-partner falsely accused him of being a drug dealer.

Both Protection Orders were made on an ex parte basis where the other side was not present and the allegations made could not be tested. The man said from the early stages of their relationship, “I had experienced numerous domestic violence episodes”.

He said: “I was constantly under pressure from her from various matters from joining swinger parties to her having same-sex affairs.”

Later in his statement, the man said: “I had been called useless, fat, stupid and good for nothing on an ongoing basis.”

The man said that after the break-up of their relationship he was told that if did not lodge €28,000 to her parents’ account, he would not see their child for Christmas.

He said he did not lodge the money nor did he see his child.

He also alleged that his ex-partner has been telling others he was a drug addict.

Judge Larkin adjourned the case to next month for hearing.
