FORWARD CAN GET JESSE OUT OF A RUTT

- Elland Road: Tomorrow, 2pm BY DAVE CRAVEN

RECORD signing Georginio Rutter cannot wait to link up with Rodrigo after picking him as his strike partner on FIFA.

Leeds’ £36million capture from Hoffenheim is set to make his debut off the bench against

Brentford tomorrow.

French talent Rutter (above) got a taste of the electric Elland Road atmosphere when introduced to the crowd in United’s 5-2 FA Cup win over Cardiff on Wednesday.

Brazil-born Rodrigo (right) was on the scoresheet while fellow attackers Patrick Bamford and teen wing sensation Willy

Gnonto both hit doubles.

Rutter, 20, said: “It was a magical atmosphere. I can’t really find the words to describe what that was like.

“And I could see the other night just how much the fans really appreciate both Patrick and Rodrigo.

“Before, I used to play on Playstation with Rodrigo in my team. He’s particularly fast on Playstation and I play up front with him in a 4-4-2. Maybe I saw the future!”

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is suddenly spoilt for choice with his attacking “weapons”, which will come in handy given they are just two points off the drop zone. He has not ruled out switching to a 4-4-2 formation himself.

And Marsch admitted, in the future, he could even envisage starting with all three of Rutter, Bamford and Rodrigo.

Rutter certainly has no worries about that hefty price tag, and said: “It’s not something that puts any pressure on me at

all.

“Transfers are between clubs – they negotiate – I just get on with football. I just concentrate on doing stuff I know I can do.

“And I want to repay the confidence the club has shown in me.”

Rutter has known Leeds keeper Illan Meslier since their childhood days and said he’s been like a “big brother”.

He added: “It’s been a dream of mine to play at a big club in the Premier League. Chatting with Illan, he told me what a great club it is – that convinced me.

“From what I’ve seen so far, we deserve to be higher in the table. Hopefully we will climb in the next few months.”
