NEW Coventry City owner Doug King admits one of the key factors in his decision to take over the club was their highly-rated manager Mark Robins.

King has taken control at the CBS Arena outfit and cleared their debts.

He is CEO of Yelo Enterprises and recently invested more than £70million in the region through the construction of a state-of-the-art oilseed processing facility using renewable energy.

King (right) also co-founded, and majority owns, RCMA Capital LLP, which oversees investments of over £300m.

And he reckons boss Robins shares his ambitions to get Coventry back into the Premier League for the first time since 2001. “Mark was the most important person to me, in all our dealings,” said King ahead of today’s visit by Norwich.

“I’m extremely happy with all the discussions I’ve had with him.

“He’s a very good manager, who has created a great building block to go forward.

“He’s experienced and he understands what we’re trying to do and that we’re trying to do it in a certain way.

“I love the fact that he’s been here five years and he’s still so ambitious. He wants to get to that top league.”

David Wagner is anxious to keep Teemu Pukki at Norwich beyond the end of this season.

Striker Pukki (right), 32, is entering the final six months of his contract and has so far stalled on agreeing a new deal despite the club offering new terms. But new Canaries boss Wagner has made it clear he would like the Finland forward to be part of his plans next season.

The manager said: “You like to have quality players in your squad and in your team.

“Everything that

I’ve heard is that Teemu has an offer, since the last few months or the summer, on the table. He said he would like to think about what to do until the summer.

“This is his right. He has a contract until the summer which I’m very pleased about.

“I hope we can work longer together but maybe not. This is part of the business. Four months is a long time in football and then we will know more.”

Pukki is once again the club’s leading scorer with 10 league goals so far this campaign.

Wagner added: “He is an interesting guy because he is such a calm character.

“He has humour as well. I really like him and he has an unbelievable football brain for a striker.

“He knows the game inside out.

“First and foremost, I’m very happy to have him in my team.”
