Fans raise funds after Bradley abuse
A GROUP of Cork City fans has raised almost €5,000 for two children’s charities – after getting the green light from Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley.
The supporters, who host The Other 3 Amigos Podcast, set a target yesterday morning of five grand. And within hours they were closing in on that total.
“We’ve chosen to fundraise for BUMBLEANCE Children’s
National Ambulance Service and Oscar’s Kids Ireland,” they wrote on their idonate. ie page (www. idonate.ie/ fundraiser/totap).
“All funds raised here will go directly to these great causes.
“As passionate Cork City FC fans, we are coming together to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in need.
“Oscar’s Kid Charity, an Irish organisation, is dedicated to providing support and assistance to children facing serious illnesses and their families.
“They strive to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive, offering essential resources, medical equipment, and emotional support throughout their journey.
“This charity was the preferred choice of Stephen Bradley and his family.”
Bradley spoke out last Friday night after a small group made obscene chants from outside Turner’s Cross, referencing his nine-year-old son Josh, who is fighting leukaemia.
“You take stick. As a football person, that comes with it. That’s your job and that’s fine,” Bradley (above) said last Friday night.
“But speaking about a sick nine-year-old is disgusting and Cork City should be ashamed of them. I want them banned for life. That’s disgusting.”
The chants were swiftly condemned by Cork City and by countless fans on social media – and their owner Dermot Usher confirmed today that bans would be handed out.
“Two people have been identified, two people have admitted to their wrongs. These two guys are going to get lifetime bans,” he said.
Another charity will also benefit from the funds raised.
“Additionally,” the idonate page continued, “we aim to contribute to the incredible work of BUMBLEANCE, Ireland’s only interactive ambulance specifically designed for critically and seriously ill children.”
