Tributes to fitness model & nurse Judy, 32
THE owner of the Miss Bikini Ireland competition has said he is “heartbroken” at the tragic death of model Judy Fitzgerald.
Greg Ryan said he can’t put into words the pain he feels at the loss of the former crown holder.
He described Judy, 32, as “just an amazing person all around” with a heart of gold.
Greg added: “My heart breaks for her family at this time. Will miss you so much Judy and your chats and laughs. Till we meet again.”
Other tributes have also poured in for the Irish profitness model and frontline nurse and midwife, who passed away in her native Limerick.
Ms Fitzgerald had earned a degree in nursing from University College Cork and a post graduate degree in midwifery at University of Limerick.
The qualified fitness instructor had continued working on the frontline of midwifery during Covid while pursuing a career in the fitness modelling world. She was crowned Miss Bikini Ireland in 2014, beating contestants from around the globe.
An online obituary said Judy, of Mulcair Road, Raheen Heights and Finnitstown, Adare, Co Limerick “passed away unexpectedly on 27th May 2023”.
Her remains will repose tonight at Cross’s Funeral Home, in Limerick city.
Her requiem Mass, will take place at noon tomorrow at St Nessan’s Church, Raheen, with burial in Castlemungret Cemetery. She is survived by her parents Liam and Imelda, sister Lucy, brother William, brother-in-law Pedro, and circle of friends.
Red carpet dress designer Venera Tabakin, posted photos online of the pair together and wrote: “RIP Judy Fitzgerald, my little model and friend, Miss Bikini Ireland and Celebrity of Ireland.”
Former Fair City actress Jenny Dixon, and her husband, actor and former Fine Gael TD, Tom Neville, posted their condolences.
The couple wrote: “So so sad to learn of Judy’s passing. She will be missed by all very much.” Another pal’s tribute said: “A beautiful soul, may she rest in peace.”
Fellow pageant contestant Mary Mullally said Ms Fitzgerald was a “kind, beautiful person, a girl that would light up a room with her smile”.
Last March, Judy featured in an episode of First Dates Ireland.
