RYAN Tubridy had just a few drinks with close friends and family after his last Late Late Show, deciding not to have a star-studded after-party, sources have revealed.

The Dubliner enjoyed a low-key send-off backstage following his final stint at the helm of the Friday night chat show after 14 years.

An insider revealed Tubs had plans with his family to celebrate his 50th birthday the next day and opted out of a night on the town.

A source told us: “The green room was packed but there was nothing crazy

“There was nothing scandalous.

“I think a lot of his family was there. His birthday was the next day.”

There were no elaborate farewells in the green room either.

The insider said: “There were no speeches or anything, but [the production team] had their own wrap party weeks ago.”

Almost 700,000 people tuned into to see Tubs’ final Late Late Show.

The high-profile RTE star later headed West for a few days. He was spotted behind the counter of popular Connemara gem The Clifden Bookshop as staff joked that he looked “a little too comfortable” in his new position on Monday.

Sharing the photograph on their social media, the store explained that they get many customers coming in asking whether they had Tubridy’s book recommendations in stock.

Taking to Facebook this week, they posted the picture alongside a caption that read: “If we only had a euro for every time a customer comes in and asks, ‘Have you got this book,

“Well, we would probably still be independent booksellers but it just goes to show, a good recommendation makes all the difference.

“PS, is it just us or does he look a little too comfortable behind that counter already?”

The father-of-two looks set to launch his own podcast.

He revealed last week: “I would definitely be looking at the world of podcasts, and docs and history and books for sure.”
