Punters need to Look no further
A best-priced 10/1 shot for the English 1,000 Guineas, One Look should make short work of her four rivals in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race in Cork today.
Trained by Paddy Twomey, who has notched two wins and two places from his four runners this season, this Gleneagles filly has raced only once but impressed when landing the valuable Goffs Million at the Curragh in September.
Well-supported into 5/1 ahead of that seven-furlong contest, she came through smoothly under Billy Lee, asserted early in the final furlong and powered clear to slam 101-rated favourite Cherry Blossom by six lengths.
That was the performance of a potentially high-class filly. And, in typical style, Twomey has found an ideal, low-key starting point for her three-year-old campaign.
Whether she develops into a Group 1 filly or not, One Look should make no mistake here.
Twomey will be represented by Go Big Or Go Home, a £1.8million yearling purchase, acquired from Bryan
Smart following two modest runs last season, in the opening fillies maiden.
But she needs to improve to cope with the Ger Lyons (inset) trained National Lady, third in both juvenile starts, behind subsequent stakes winners Brilliant and Kitty Rose, at Leopardstown and Naas respectively and officially rated 82.
Withdrawn from the recent Park Express at the Curragh due to ground conditions, the Fozzy Stacktrained three-year-old filly You Send Me appeals in the listed six-furlong Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cork Stakes.
Winner of her maiden on this track, this filly failed by a half-length to battlehardened Power Under Me in the Amethyst at Leopardstown before finishing sixth in Tahiyra’s Irish 1,000 Guineas.
She hasn’t been seen since, but has plenty of potential and is preferred to recent Curragh handicap winner Real Force (above) and last year’s Commonwealth Cup fourth Ocean Quest.
