Bambie looks Doomed
Irish odds well behind fave Swiss
EUROVISION hopeful Bambie Thug has become an outsider for the song contest – as bookies back Switzerland’s Nemo to be crowned the winner.
The Cork singer will perform fourth in the first semi-final on May 7 with their song Doomsday Blue.
But Bambie is now backed 33/1 to win the song contest despite a flurry of attention for the star earlier this year.
But Switzerland’s Nemo is now red-hot 2/1 favourite to win. Brian O’keeffe, spokesman for Boylesports said: “With just a month to go until the Eurovision Song Contest the betting is really heating up and punters are hoping that they’ll be finding Nemo at the top of the leaderboard come May 11.”
Switzerland are tipped to claim their first Eurovision win since 1988 next month in Sweden. Rapper Nemo will EUR HOPE Bambie Thug represent the Swiss at the ballad-filled bash after beating 400 rivals to secure their ticket to Malmo.
Celine Dion guided the country to their last win 36 years ago as she fended off a British challenge in Dublin to win with Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.
The Swiss will be hoping Nemo can make waves in Malmo as they rely on The Code to break their longstanding blank and hopes are high that they will follow in Celine’s footsteps. With hosts Sweden drawing level with Ireland’s record seven wins last year, they bid to top the all-time Eurovision Song Contest leaderboard but are rated as 50/1 outsiders. Olly Alexander is out at 40/1 to score the UK’S first victory since 1997.
With contestants set to take to the stage next month, Croatia (7/2) and Italy (9/2) are the likely challengers to the Swiss. Croatia’s Baby Lasagna is set to catch the eye of viewers with his hit Rim Tim Tagi Dim.
