KEEP CALM IS MORSY CODE FOR PROMOTION
‘Carry on and get one point for Tractor Boys’ Prem return’
IPSWICH captain Sam Morsy insists his side will not lose their heads now, with the finishing line in sight.
The Tractor Boys need just a draw from Saturday’s home game with Huddersfield to guarantee a Premier League spot – and consecutive promotions.
And the Egypt midfielder is ready for another gruelling 90 minutes following Tuesday night’s battling 2-1 victory at Coventry.
But Morsy is certain Ipswich can control their emotions.
He said: “We’ve been together a few years now, so it would be crazy to start doing things differently. Tuesday was the same mindset.
“It was really professional and calm heads, it was not getting caught up in all the emotions of it.
“You play your own game and hope for the best.
“Of course, we have belief we can win every game. We’ll go out, try to win it and we’ll run ourselves into the ground.
“We’ll approach the game with humility and, after 90 plus added time, we’ll see where we are.”
It has been an extraordinary season for Ipswich, who have registered more than 90 points for a second campaign running under boss Kieran Mckenna (above, right),
But Morsy, 32, said: “We didn’t think about the Premier League at the start of the season, to be fair. The goal was to be a good team and to keep improving.
“We’ve managed to gradually do that. We started the season well and have to continue doing that.”
Huddersfield are all but relegated, however, Morsy is taking nothing for granted. He added: “It’s never easy.
“You have to make sacrifices and be really good players to play in the Championship.
“Undoubtedly, Huddersfield have good players and a good team, together with a good manager and we will have to be at our best.
“Every game is different and random. Every team in the division have got a threat.
“And teams can score at any moment – but we must be strong and resilient.”
