SILVA: ERROR IS GONE... NOT VAR-GOTTEN

MARCO SILVA says he has unfinished business with Manchester City after his Etihad explosion.

Fulham take on City eager to avenge a 5-1 mauling back in September which left the Cottagers boss furious.

His side were heading into half-time level in that game, only for VAR to deem an offside Manuel Akanji did not interfere with a goal by Nathan Ake.

Silva (above) was so incensed he was booked for leading the protests – and has clearly not forgotten.

He said: “It was one of the biggest mistakes this season by a linesman and VAR.

“We were going into half-time at 1-1 and it allowed them to go into halftime at 2-1. It had a huge impact.

“It’s in the past now. I hope for a good performance this time from my team.”

Silva admitted recently that he is already making plans for next season and what the club needs to do in the transfer market.

And he revealed he held talks with the club’s owners about targets and budgets again this week.

Silva said: “We have been talking. We had a meeting on Wednesday. I expect everything to be more clear in the next week. It’s important to put on the table the plan we have.”

The Fulham boss also confirmed that striker Jay Stansfield will stay with the club next season after his loan spell at Birmingham.

England Under-21 international Stansfield could not prevent Brum’s relegation from the Championship.

But he scored 13 goals in all competitions and will now get a chance to impress at Craven Cottage.

Silva said: “He’s going to be back with us. Everything we planned, apart from the collective goal of Birmingham, was a box ticked.

“To be able to give a step forward in the Championship and score important goals… Jay achieved all the important things.”
