Six months before your wedding
If you’re new to professional-grade skincare, start with visiting your local professional Dermalogica skin therapist at least six months before the wedding.
This will give you adequate time to work on any skin challenges and establish a good regimen. It’s also advisable to schedule in a few skin treatments, either a series of peels or other advanced treatments like microneedling to get your skin into its peak condition.
Dermalogica Ireland Educational Training Manager, Louise O Brien advises, “Your skin therapist will advise you of the best treatment plan for your individual skin’s needs and prescribe the correct home care products to maintain treatment results and keep your skin healthy and glowing for the big day.”
Two-three months before your wedding
This is considered a very tense time for brides.
Ensure you dedicate time to your overall health and wellbeing to reduce stress levels.“remember, skin responds negatively to prolonged stress. Stress hormones can influence breakout activity, sensitivity, and pigmentation”, Louise reminds.
Fuel your body with nutritious foods and plenty of water and take time to relax to keep stress levels to a minimum.
One month before your wedding
Louise suggests, “Avoiding any new or extreme treatment as your skin may react unfavourably.your final professional skin treatment should be at least three to four days before the wedding. Results from that service can be maintained with a focus on mild exfoliation and lots of hydration.”
If you’re booking a waxing appointment, do it no less than two days before your wedding to allow any redness to fade.
Your wedding day!
Keep your regimen simple with the products you’ve been using for the last few weeks.
A gentle exfoliant can help smooth skin prior to make-up application.
And ensure you have layered a few light hydrating products as well as SPF and leave skin for at least 10 minutes before applying make-up.
Also, pack an emergency bag with essentials to top up with such as concealer and a travel-size mist to refresh and rehydrate your face throughout the day.
