■ Singer-songwriter Simon James’ unique rewrite of Miley Cyrus’ latest single Flowers has gone viral. His take has already reached nearly three million views.

Many are now calling for double Grammy Award winner Miley to record a duet with the Irish artist. Simon said,“it started with me humming the call and response melody to the song in the car, then I sat down to record it.

“It was hard to fall asleep that night as every time I refreshed my phone it was jumping up thousands of views a minute. Seeing that number on the screen even now feels surreal!”

Model Joanna Cooper is calling on Ireland to support The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s annual nationwide Denim Day for Dementia fundraisin­g campaign on Friday, March 3, to raise funds for vital supports and services.

Members of the public are being urged to don their denims — to the crèche, their school, their place of work or wherever they are — and donate to support families impacted by dementia.
