Psst! RUMOUR has IT

-

After Austin Butler admitted that his Memphis accent was put on for the Elvis movie, Rumour Has It that the 31-year-old, who adopted a Southern drawl after playing Elvis in the 2022 biopic, is now actively trying to lose the accent.

Fans were baffled when the actor, from Southern Califronia, spoke with the same accent he had in the movie at the Golden Globes but Austin’s voice coach, Irene Bartlett, defended him, saying the“accent is genuine”and “might stay forever”.

His voice coach explained earlier this month,“what you saw in that Golden Globes speech, that’s him. It’s genuine, it’s not put on.”

“I feel sorry people are saying that, you know, it’s still acting (but) he’s actually taken (the voice of Presley) on board,”she said, adding that the change might be permanent,“i don’t know how long that will last, or if it’s going to be there forever.”

But Butler has now said,“i am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing.

One song took 40 takes!”

Fancy showing off your GAA skills online and raising money for a great cause at the same time? Then sign up for the ‘Kilkenny to Kampala #K2kgaachallenge’.

Take a video of your best GAA skill, donate to the campaign, post your video online and challenge your friends to do the same using the hashtag #K2kgaachallenge.

All the money raised will go towards equipment and meals after training for children in the new Kampala GAA Club in Uganda.

Earlier this month, Kilkenny stars Aidan Fogarty and Aoife Prendergast along with local children kickstarted the Newpark Hotel Kilkenny to Kampala fundraiser in Nolan Park in Kilkenny, creating short videos of them demonstrating their favourite GAA skills, shared it on their social media channels and challenged their friends, families, teammates and even rivals to do that same.

And now they want you to do the same.

The Newpark Hotel Kilkenny to Kampala fundraiser aims to raise at least €20,000 to ensure that Uganda GAA can continue to provide GAA equipment and dinner for each child after training, with proceeds also going towards securing final payment for three acres of land for a GAA training pitch and clubhouse on the outskirts of Kampala.
