OPTICAL ILLUSIONS

Bulging shapes: Because of assumptions about perspective, our brain sees the narrow rectangles as farther away than wider rectangles, creating the effect of depth. The black and white dots create the impression of slanting lines, which increase the bulge.

Puzzling colours: This shows the effect of “colour assimilation”. The gray bars next to the blue lines take on a similar tone, and turn bluish. But when gray bars are next to two differentcoloured lines, they look as if they have two tones merging into each other.
