Peter’s Christmas STRUGGLE HOLLYOAKS

- By Rachel Beresford

It’s Christmas on the cobbles and it all starts with Peter reading a letter from the hospital and then surreptitiously shoving it in his pocket. And when he admits to Tim that he can’t stop obsessing over Stephen’s death, Tim reckons he needs a distraction and has an idea. In the hot tub at No.4, Tim advises Peter to forget thoughts of Stephen and focus on the good things in his life, but Peter reckons it’s easier said than done as he confides in Tim that he’s worried his relationship with Carla has run its course as these days she’s totally preoccupied with the factory.

Tim urges him not to give up and when Carla returns home with a date night supper for two and suggests they watch a film, Peter’s pleased until she gets a call telling her the factory alarm is going off and she heads back out.

Later, Carla is surprised when, having said he is too busy to have lunch with her, she finds Peter cleaning the flat. So he’s

forced to admit that he’s arranged to meet the mother of the donor who provided him with a new liver and she’s due round shortly.

Later, Peter admits to Valerie that he’s an alcoholic and her son’s liver saved his life.

And after, when Peter reveals that he’s got a support group meeting later, Carla offers to go with him.

But at the support group, when Peter admits that he’s lost all interest in life and every day has become a chore, Carla’s left deeply concerned and heartbroken to realise the depth of his despair.

Later at the factory when Carla shows Michael the Christmas present she’s bought Peter, he’s flabbergasted. What is it?

Elsewhere this week, Jenny and Carla fail to persuade Audrey to hand over Stephen’s journal but Daisy tells Jenny not to give up as she deserves a cut of the money for what she went through and she could use it to buy the Rovers back.

So Jenny approaches Carla and asks her if she’ll lend her some money so that she can

apply for a mortgage and buy the Rovers back.

What will Carla say?

Later, Daisy calls at the Bistro and spotting all the Platts’ coats hanging up, forms a plan.

Having stolen David’s keys, Daisy lets herself into No.8 but as she searches frantically for the journal, she is forced to run upstairs when Audrey arrives back. Will she be found?

Meanwhile, desperate to get away from his problems and Tony’s threats, Ed secretly packs a bag and tells Aggie he is coming to spend Xmas with her in Birmingham but as he opens the front door, he comes face to face with Tony, who menacingly barges his way into the house.

And when Ed’s phone rings with a call from Aggie, Tony threatens to tell her everything.

Ed makes a grab for the phone, but Tony punches him, knocking him to the floor.

In the Bistro, meanwhile, Michael shows

Ronnie and Sarge the watch he’s bought Ed for Christmas, engraved with the words ‘For the World’s Best Dad. Our Hero’.

Ronnie reckons it’s perfect but when the Baileys return home to find Ed nursing a cut lip and all the presents gone, Dee-dee calls the police and Craig goes over the details of the burglary with Ed who says he forgot to lock the back door.

Also this week, with things still fraught at the Platts’, Lily suggests they introduce a ‘nice box’ like they have at school, where the kids have to write nice things about each other and place them in the box and says Audrey will read out the comment.

Debbie is shocked when Crystal reveals she and Ryan are moving to Glasgow.

Finally this week, Evelyn calls at No.9 and suggests to Tyrone he takes the girls to Norfolk to see Fiz while she spends Christmas with Roy.

But realising that leaves Cassie on her own, Evelyn reluctantly invites her to join them.

It’s Christmas in the village this week and next and it all kicks off with Prince going into a panic when he finds out Rayne’s phone is missing, and Hunter is desperately trying to find it with his search leading him to Peri.

Peri seeks advice from James on what to do with the evidence which proves Prince’s innocence — and the lawyer suggests she makes the phone disappear, keeping suspicion off her and Romeo.

Later, Hunter leaves Peri a voicemail saying he’s sorry for acting weird and they need to stick together but when Romeo tells her he loves her, her head is in a spin.

This forces Peri to confess everything to Romeo and together they agree they need to get away.

But when Hunter hears how Peri and Romeo are planning on leaving the village for a while, he comes up with a plan to bide his time and keep them there a little longer with drinks to help with him missing his brother.

Elsewhere, Sienna wants to rebuild burnt bridges with old friends starting with Maxine, but the bride-to-be is left taken aback when Dilly announces she’s taken it upon herself to be deputy maid of honour.

And Dilly drops the truth bomb on Maxine, telling her Rafe is dying and with Sienna out of earshot she says that she’s concerned the stress of the wedding will limit his time even more.

It all gets too much for Sienna when Dilly shows her lime green bridesmaid dresses she’s purchased, but when Rafe admits he asked his sister to help, Sienna agrees to try make amends with her.

Later, Rafe reminds Sienna they only want people who support them at their wedding.

Meanwhile, Joel is shocked to discover that Daniel has asked for a baby brother or sister on his Christmas list and tries to encourage him to change it before Leela sees.

But after discovering Daniel’s letter to Santa, Leela comes clean to Joel and tells him she’s pregnant.

Meanwhile, Terry gets some advice from Mack which blows up in his face. Later he finds himself under the mistletoe — who will meet him there?

Elsewhere, Caitríona admits to David that she is not ready to tell Maeve about her father while Maeve is preparing for her first disco.

And Caitríona gets a glimpse into Maeve’s world of boys and dresses. But is she too young to handle the truth or is Caitríona just projecting her concerns?

Finally, Caitríona has the turkey bought and the Christmas presents wrapped. All she has to do now is tell Maeve the truth about her father...
