Another year is here and with it, plenty of incredible stories set to hit the big and small screen. But there’s also no better time to revisit some fanfavourites — with many stories of the silver screen set to celebrate some pretty big milestones this year. It’s time to grab the popcorn and settle in as this week, we’re taking a look at some of the movies that will be marking some special anniversaries in 2024… It’s been 10 years since Amy Elliott-dunne went missing in the big screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike lead the cast of the thriller, which follows a man at the centre of intense media scrutiny after his wife’s disappearance — and the suspicion that he may not be innocent.

The psychological thriller, which is an adaptation of Flynn’s 2012 novel of the same name, also stars Carrie Coon, Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris.

Gone Girl was nominated for a number of awards, including four nods at the 72nd Golden Globes and a Best Actress nomination at the 87th Academy Awards for Pike.

And in 2022, Flynn opened up about the possibility of revisiting the characters again one day.

She said,“i will fully admit that, now that the child that would’ve been born 10 years ago, once that child hits 13, 14 in real time, I may indeed want to go back in and update and play around with what the hell would’ve happened once Amy was a mom.

“Because that is the stuff of wonderful gothic nightmares, I think.”

Up soared into cinemas 15 years ago — and instantly had audiences enchanted.

The animated film follows Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old man who, since he was a young boy, always wanted to explore South America — and, hopefully, find Paradise Falls.

He finally sets out on his journey by lifting his house with thousands of balloons — and inadvertently takes Russell, a boy scout, along for the journey.

Along the way, they meet a number of new friends — including Dug, the talking dog — and foes.

The heartfelt tale was nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Animated Feature, Best Original Score and Best Sound Editing at the 82nd Academy Awards.

It won Best Animated Feature and Original Score.

A microseries set after the film, Dug Days, was released on Disney+ in 2021.

And this year makes 20 years since Lindsay Lohan’s Cady Heron in Mean Girls.

The film — which also stars Jonathan Bennett, Rachel Mcadams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, Tina Fey and Lizzy Caplan — follows a new high school student as she’s welcomed into The Plastics, the most popular clique in school,
