Clear and present dangers

- By Rachel Beresford

Supersleuth Alya Nazir is on the case this week after noticing suspicious behaviour from Deedee Bailey’s beau, Joel Deering — leading to a surprising confession from the solicitor. Last week saw Dee-dee confide in Alya, telling her how she hasn’t really heard from Joel since they shared their feelings for each other.

And things seem to be back on the right path for the pair after he turned up with flowers — as well as an explanation for his absence, and an offer to cook her a romantic dinner.

However, things hit a bit of a bump as

Joel leaves a loved-up Dee-dee’s flat — and a receipt falls out from his wallet.

Dee Dee clocks that it’s for a jewellers, that it’s dated for December and that Joel clearly splashed the cash on the purchase.

Later on, Joel calls into the solicitors to find her discussing the slip of paper with Adam and Alya. He makes it seem that he

bought himself some cufflinks, leading Alya to make a joke about his expensive taste.

But as Alya heads out later on, she clocks Joel in a car — and he’s being driven by a woman who appears to look upset.

Ayla watches on, suspicious of what’s going on.

And if there’s one thing that’s for certain, it’s that secrets don’t stay secret too long in Soapland.

Alya braces herself as she decides to show Dee-dee the CCTV footage from the bistro.

As Dee-dee confronts her beau over what she saw, Joel decides to come clean — and his confession leaves Dee-dee reeling.

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, an exhausted Maria Connor is watching over her son, Liam, as he sleeps.

She rings up the doctor and demands an urgent appointment.

As Liam opens up to Dr Gaddas, he confides in her about how he feels his life has become so unbearable lately and that he wanted to end his life. Dr Gaddas tells

Maria that she is going to be refer Liam to a mental health unit, however, there’s a long waiting list and so she’s got to keep a close eye on him.

But later, Mason makes a comment to Gary about how Liam needs to watch his back, leaving Gary seeing red.

Sean runs in to break up the confrontation between the two, threatening to report Gary to the police.

Meanwhile, in an effort to try and clear Dylan’s name, Sean demands that he hand over his phone — but a horrified look appears on his face as he scrolls through the messages.

And as Dylan’s birthday arrives, George, Eileen and Mary set out to make a fuss over him. Sean, however, can barely look at him.

Eileen tries to play peacemaker between the two of them — but will things go to plan?

Elsewhere, Steve admits to Amy that he’s been neglecting Tracy recently and is planning a romantic meal at the bistro. Over lunch, Steve apologises for taking her for granted and assures her that he still loves her, leaving Tracy masking her guilt over her affair with Tommy.

Later in the week, when Tracy reveals that she’s got the house to herself as Steve’s on an airport run, Tommy can’t resist.

At the same time Gav sets about cleaning the windows at No.1, with Tim giving him a hand getting to grips with the ladder.

But when Tracy sees Tim’s face at the bedroom window she screams.

Unsurprisingly, Tim’s mortified and hurries down the ladder.

Tracy appears in her dressing gown and convinces Tim and Gav that she and Steve were enjoying a bit of lunchtime fun but she’d be grateful if they kept it to themselves.

Back at home Tim tells Sally about his eyeful.

But when Steve later tells Sally he spent all day in his car, Sally secretly wonders who was in bed with Tracy.
