HEARTBREAK DAWNS
There’s heartbreak in store for Dawn and Billy in this week’s trip to the ‘dales — and it begins as Dawn spots a new bruise on Evan’s leg.
She moves quickly to ring the surgery, and Dr. Liam advises her to rush the youngster to A&E.
A paediatrician examines Evan and takes him for some tests, while his worried parents wait on, anxious that they will be accused of hurting him.
But when the paediatrician returns, they explain that Evan’s a very sick baby — and tells them that after the results of the blood test, more tests are required and they want to do an urgent bone marrow biopsy as he has low haemoglobin and platelet levels.
Dawn and Billy are left reeling by the news, as their world begins to implode.
Later on, a heartbroken Dawn struggles to sooth Evan.
And as Billy returns home, he gets choked up as he explains that there are a few things it could be — including an infection, autoimmune disease or even something like Leukaemia. Will and Kim hospital do their best to rush to the hospital, only to get caught up due to the road feud between Ruby and Moira — and Will finally gets there as Evan’s being taken in for his biopsy.
The next day, the results of the biopsy are confirmed — and Kim and Will watch Dawn buckle from outside the room, as the doctor confirms their worst fears.
Elsewhere in the village, the women rally around Chas in solidarity after she wears her prostheses for the first time.
Charity, determined for some normality, reassures her that she doesn’t need them — and some insensitive comments from one of the residents of the ‘dales unleashes Chas’ fury.
Later on, Chas — who is refusing to be defined by her breasts — reflects on not being able to face her surgery scars.
So Charity agrees to look at them with her — and Chas faces her new reality head-on.
