RUBIN: THIS TOPS IT ALL

-

WALES star Rubin Colvill pledged there is more to come from him and Isaak Davies after the Cardiff academy graduates took the honours at QPR.

Davies (20) came off the bench to score the equaliser before winning the free-kick for his mate Colwill to curl home a clincher.

Davies also signed a new long-term contract last week.

Colvill said: “What a day for the academy.

“We’ve been around it for a while now and we’re all starting to find our feet. This tops it all off really.

Buzzing

“Everyone has been buzzing for Isaak — he is such a nice lad. It was top drawer from us.”

Colvill (19) said captain Joe Ralls invited him to take the 75th-minute free on the edge of the box that produced his fifth goal of the season.

“I was happy to be given the chance,” he said. “I was just thinking

about keeping it on target and hitting it with some power.”

Wales face a World Cup qualifier at home to Austria this month and Colvill is in the frame to win his fourth cap.

“You just do what you can at club level and hopefully you get selected,” he said.

The future looks less bright for QPR after consecutive defeats and only one win in eight.

After accusing his side of an “unacceptable” performance following Andre Gray’s first-half opener, Mark Warburton revealed keeper Seny Dieng will be out “for more than four weeks” with the quad injury he suffered at Blackburn.

Former Cardiff keeper David Marshall got both hands to Davies’ shot but was unable to keep it out, before Colvill’s strike flew into his top corner.
