GIROUD’S GOAL HAS AC ON TOP

OLIVIER GIROUD sent AC Milan back to the Serie A summit last night in the top-of-the-table clash with Napoli.

Giroud beat ex-Arsenal team-mate David Ospina in the 49th minute, scoring his first away goal of the season, to earn the Rossoneri a 1-0 win.

Victory moved Milan back top and three points ahead of Napoli and two above previous leaders Inter.

Fourth placed Juve kept their faint hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Spezia. They are seven points off the top.

Tammy Abraham thanked Roma for lifting him following “a low time” in his career after the former Chelsea man became the first English player in a top European league to score 20 goals in all competitio­ns with the winner in a 1-0 win against Atalanta.

Abraham said: “I’ll do everything for this club.”

Battled

Memphis Depay completed Barcelona’s comeback as they battled to a 2-1 win at Elche.

Fidel fired the home side ahead a minute before the break with former Manchester City winger Ferran Torres levelling in the 61st minute, after coming on for the second half.

And Depay secured the points from the penalty spot six minutes from time after an Antonio Barragan handball.

Earlier, Joao Felix scored twice as Atletico Madrid beat Real Betis 3-1 at Estadio Benito Villamarin to climb above their opponents into fourth place in LaLiga.

Celta Vigo further eased their relegation concerns with a 4-3 win at home to rivals Mallorca.

In the Bundesliga, 1 FC Köln lost 0-1 to TSG Hoffenheim in the day’s only game, after Stefan Posch’s 61st-miniute goal.

In France, Rennes warmed up for Thursday’s Conference League clash with a 2-0 defeat of Angers thanks to goals from Benjamin Bourigeaud and Gaetan Laborde.
