Buckley calls for patience

-

Sligo RvS ...... UCD ................

Liam Buckley has urged Sligo Rovers supporters to stick by his team as he plots a way out of their current poor form.

The Bit O’Red’s disappointing draw with UCD at the Showgrounds on Saturday followed consecutive home defeats.

max mata had given Rovers the lead at the break, but slack defending from the hosts allowed College’s Colm Whelan and Evan Caffrey deservedly turn the game on its head.

Sligo’s blushes were spared when mata grabbed his second six minutes from time.

“We’re not the finished article by any stretch,” Buckley stressed. “We’ve got quite a few new players in and we’re still finding the best way we can play with them. Can it be better? Yes it can.

Soon 2 2

“We have 18 or 19 players who are good enough to play first team. it’s important that we get comfortable with each other and at the moment we are not. Do i see us getting better? Yes. We just need it to happen soon.

“We’re only a quarter way through. it would have been great to get nine points from those three games but Bohs, Shels and UCD are going to make it difficult against anyone.

“We have two away games which are difficult but we’ve gone to Dundalk and won and gone to Harps and won before so let’s see.” Sligo: Ed Mcginty; Banks, Pijnaker, Buckley, McCourt (Paddy Kirk HT); McDonnell (Cawley 86), Bolger; o’Sullivan, Fitzgerald; Mata, Hamilton (Keogh 74). UCD: Healy; Dunne, Todd, gallagher, osam; Keaney, Higgins (Brennan 73); Kerrigan (lennon 92), Caffrey, Duffy (Nolan 86); Whelan.

Referee: D Tomney.
