Scott on his nerves
BRUNO FERNANDES admitted Brighton simply wanted it more than Manchester United on a dreadful day at the Amex Stadium.
The United midfielder, after a day when his side confirmed that this will be their worst ever season in the
Premier
League, believes that even this humiliation is not the lowest ebb. The whole wretched season has been low.
The Portuguese said: “Brighton played much better than us, they had more desire than us, they deserved more than us to win this game.
Created
“They created a lot of chances, they could have scored more. We had our chances, but it was not enough. We know that.
“I don’t know why they had more desire — but from the beginning of the game they were more aggressive than us. They won the second ball, we were not strong enough in the second balls. We made mistakes defensively, and offensively we were not capable of scoring.
“We have to be grateful to the fans. If it was another club in another country today it would have been empty our end, and it was not like that.
“They supported us to the end. With different chants, whatever they want to think, fair enough.
“The season has been low. All the season has been like this, too many ups and downs. The downs have been too deep, too down. We have one game left, we have to win that game.”
SCOTT PARKER launched a blistering attack on the snipers who have claimed promotion was a formality for Bournemouth.
The Cherries rounded off their campaign with victory over Millwall.
It saw them finish second, just two points adrift of champions Fulham and back up in the big time next year.
But boss Parker
claims the club and players have not been given enough credit or respect for what they have achieved.
Narrative
“And what are the facts? This team sit two points behind a team everyone perceives as running away with it. “This team lost out in the play-offs last year, sold a player which is now starring in the Champions League for £20million (€23.4m), sold Begovic, sold Rico and we’ve replaced them with kids, absolute kids. People can say what they want to say.” Millwall gave everything on the South Coast but came up short when sub Kieffer Moore scored on the break on 81 minutes.
