ROSCOMM ON may be the only county without a senior manager next week after Ray Dempsey was unveiled as the new Limerick boss on a two-year agreement.
Rory Kavanagh’s appointment as Donegal manager is expected to be confirmed after his St Eunan’s, Letterkenny side’s county final meeting with Naomh Conaill tomorrow.
The Rossies are still without a boss after Kieran Donaghy rubbished speculation linking him with the post last week.
Former Roscommon player Don Connellan has been linked with the job, but his Moycullen side face Claregalway in the Galway quarter- finals tomorrow.
Moved
Limerick have moved quickly for former Mayo player Dempsey, who was in the running for his county’s post, before Kevin McStay got it.
Dempsey led Knockmore to back-to - back Mayo county titles in 2020/ 21.
An All- Ireland finalist as a player, he made 64 appearances for Mayo, while he also had spells as Mayo minor and under-21 boss.
“The executive committee are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ray Dempsey as the new Limerick senior football manager subject to ratification by both the football and county committees,” read a Limerick GAA statement.
“Details of his backroom team will be announced in the coming weeks”.
Dempsey said: “I am hugely excited to be working with this group of players.”
