TOTT SHOTS!

-

NORMALLY by the third day of the Cheltenham Festival the fatigue would be setting in, but with a double bill of Bank Holidays set for next week the TV will be mine for Thursday and Friday.

I’ll be honest the racing season has passed me by a bit so I don’t have any nice outside picks for you but we can try to boost the betting budget with a few winners this weekend.

With just three Premier League games on today it is a bit like a throwback to lockdown.

Anyway, it is typical that the day’s big game, Manchester United and Tottenham, is on at the same time as the rugby.

How could you trust either of these teams enough to have a bet on them.

This is definitely one for an instinct bet and my gut says that Spurs can get a win at Old Trafford at very good odds of 5-2.

Tomorrow’s games are not the most inspiring bunch of the season but Chelsea should be a good bet at home to Newcastle.

The Magpies are improving enough to cement their place in the division, so they will not be desperately disappointed to lose at Stamford Bridge — the points that will secure their survival will come elsewhere.

I will go with fairly comfortable wins for Chelsea of either 3-0 or 3-1, which can be got at odds of 8-1 and 12-1 respectively.

Arsenal probably deserve a wee bit more credit than they have got and I expect them to get past Leicester at the Emirates.

You can get odds of 8-1 for both a 2-0 and a 2-1 win for the Gunners I’ll have a quid on both.

The other four quarter-finalists in the Champions League will be known in a few days.

Manchester United host Atletico Madrid and you just couldn’t have a view on a game that United are given a good chance of winning at the moment — they are totally unreliable.

More of a banker are Chelsea, who got most of the hard work done when they won 2-0 at home to Lille and they make the short trip to the French side on Wednesday.

I think this should be a stroll for the Blues and I am all over the 4-5 for them to win and cement their last-eight spot.

There’s just the tw o Six Nations games today after Wales and France met y esterday and there’s no doubt which of the two games is the main event.

You would think that Scotland would be glad of a game against Italy after defeats against Wales and the French, but they might be a bit concerned about a backlash from the Azzurri.

After the nonsense of the 13man Italy being humiliated in

Dublin in a game that was ruined by the rules, they will want to show that they are not destined to be the whipping boys until they get kicked out of the Six Nations.

I am going to go for Italy to stay ahead of the handicap mark and with a start of +20 at 10-11 is worth an interest punt.

Ireland will have no fears going to Twickenham to play an English side that looks off the pace of both the French and today’s opponents. That said I cannot believe that Ireland are odds on to win this game.

Andy Farrell’s men faltered in Paris, a match they could have won, even if the French are a much-improved side.

I think a split bet is in order here. Go with Ireland at -2 on the handicap at 10-11 — if they win it will probably be by 3-5 points.

I’ll also take England outright to win the game at 5-4.

We’ve managed to go four wins
