CORO-NATION DAY FOR CHARLIE AT NEWMARKET

-

COROEBUS (3.40) is fancied to edge out stablemate Native Trail in today’s Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The Charlie Appleby pair dominate the market for the first Classic of the year and the 6-1 about Coroebus makes far more appeal than the 11-10 jolly.

Their home work is said to be as good as each other and, interestingly, are drawn wide apart in one and 15.

Low draws dominated last year’s race and Coroebus (drawn one) will race near Luxembourg ( four) and Perfect Power (three). He is fancied to power home and outstay his rivals.

Native Trail looks bombproof, but he is no value at 11-10 and did not blow the mind with his Craven victory. Still, he is the one to beat.

Cruised

The dark horse of the race is Check and challenge, who cruised home at Newcastle in the style of a very good horse — and, at 25-1, is the stand- out each-way play of the race.

Meanwhile, PETER CHAPPLE- HYAM is not the force he was in the training ranks, but he knows how to ready one to win a nice prize.

He has been patient with FAST MEDICINE (2.25), who is lightly raced but produced a career best with a six- length victory at Nottingham two weeks ago.

He is due a chunky 11lb rise in the weights but only has to carry a penalty today, so is 6lb well in and looks a standout bet in the Betfair Daily Rewards Suffolk Handicap. CAME FROM THE DARK (3.00) is another improving with age and was last seen winning the Group Three Coral Charge at Sandown in July.

Tipped

Hollie Doyle gets on well with the gelding and they are tipped to make a winning return in the Betfair Palace House Stakes.
