TAKE A BOW!

REDKNAPP TO HIT BACK OF THE NET

-

HARRY REDKNAPP can get on the scoresheet at Newbury today with his promising chaser

BOWTOGREATNESS (2.25, nb).

Ben Pauling’s eight year old looks nicely handicapped in the Coral Mandarin Chase based on his huge run at Aintree at the Grand National meeting where he only found the classy Midnight River too good in what was a red-hot contest.

Bowtogreatness has not been seen since and he was originally being aimed at the Coral Gold Trophy. Instead this Class Three affair looks a more realistic target for a horse who is yet to win over fences but who looks far better than his rating of 135. The 8-1 about him is a fair price.

GET A TONIC (1.50) was a runaway winner at the Berkshire track last month and the assessor has put her up 8lb. She can score again if she can back up that effort.

Venetia Williams has had 12 winners from her last 38 runners and MARTATOR (1.15)

could be another. Like many French recruits, he has taken time to find his stride in this country but has improved with each of his three runs over fences.

His latest effort when second to the talented Etalon 10 days ago reads well.

WALKING ON AIR (3.35) has always oozed potential and he makes his chasing debut in the novices’ handicap. His opening handicap mark looks fair and the decent ground at Newbury will suit.

The ITV cameras are at Haydock for the Last Fling Handicap Chase over 3m 4f, which promises to be a real stamina test.

EAST STREET (1.35) ticks the boxes. He is in good form, will handle the heavy ground and should relish the trip.

Sue Smith’s horses are also running well and when the ITV4 cameras have stopped rolling, her CERENDIPITY (3.10, nap) is fancied to win his second race over fences.

There are two live races from Taunton where the clash between CASA DO MENTO (2.10) and Queens Gamble is one to look forward to.

KING OF THE LAKE (2.45) has been knocking on the door and can take the Racing TV 100% Profits Back To Racing Hurdle.
