REILLY’S GOT AN ED’ FOR HEIGHTS

-

The RCETS A0 525 final is the feature race of the evening at Shelbourne Park with €2,000 up for grabs.

It’s hard to look past the Ian Reilly trained Droopys edel who produced a fine performance last week in the semi-finals when clocking 28.43 after a short break from the track.

This daughter of King Sherrandroopys hunch would prefer a pitch closer to the rails but the white jacket of trap three shouldn’t pose any problems.

She showed plenty of gears to go on and win by three lengths to trap four here Ballymac Marcia so she has to be given a big chance of claiming the prize.

Sunshine Zoe in trap five was the other heat winner for trainer Ollie Bray.

Find

She came from behind to win by two lengths in 28.92 so she has a bit to find on Droopys edel if the times are anything to go by.

Capitan Garfio made most of the running in that heat won by Sunshine Zoe but he ran out of steam on the home straight. he can easily set the pace again in this final but he will need a decent lead for owner/trainer Kenneth Busteed.

Point Of Rescue in trap six is another wine fine early pace but it’s Droopys edel for me.

There is also the This Runs Deep A1 550/575 Dual Distance final worth €1,750 with a chance taken on trap two Annie On Faya for trainer Murt Leahy.

She made all in her semi-final heat in a time of 29.92 with trap three Faypoint Angry three quarters of a length back in second place.

It was her fourth career win from just nine starts for Annie On Faya so she looks the one to beat if managing to stay the distance as this is a step up in trip now, along with a longer run into the first bend.

She will have to be sharp. Faypoint Angry looks like he will relish the extra few yards.

Kilcolgan Chief was the other heat winner for trainer Neilus O’connell and owner Karen Geoghegan.

he will certainly stay the trip so he looks a danger along with Ballygur Bale in trap five for Willie hanlon.

hukum can return to winning ways in race 6 for trainer Adam Dunford and the Fantasy syndicate.

Nine times a winner, this son of Good News-early Rise loves the 750 yards contest with €750 great prize money for one race. he has a fast 41.53 recorded over this six-bend contest so he looks the one to beat.

Stepitoutjulia is worth keeping an eye on for trainer Shaun Conway in trap four.

Flying

She hasn’t much experience over this trip but will be flying home.

2023 Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby finalist Droopys Nice One makes her 2024 debut in race 11 for trainer Murt Leahy.

This versatile lady was last seen finishing second in the Christmas Oaks and is hard to oppose in the finale wearing the black jacket.

Blackstone Lacey will likely be the favourite however.

Trained by Michael J O’donovan, this talented lady clocked 29.67 over course and distance last month so must be taken seriously for owner Patrick Sinnott from Kells.

I thought Russmur Special ran a cracker last week when winning in 28.88 for the 525 yards.

he stepped up in grade but he took it in his stride.

he can continue his purple patch in race 10 but the draw is a slight con
