SLICK CAN GIVE RIVALS THE SLIP

-

It’s another busy weekend across the country with plenty of competitive racing action to look forward to.

the semi-finals of the Book Your Fishing on swimbooker a2 525 are on at hq with the talented Valderrama looking like he will come on leaps and bounds after his victory last week.

this april 2022 whelped son of Good news-martinstown Diva showed terrific early speed before going on to win by two and a half lengths in 28.82 on his third ever race so there is more to come.

heat winner sliabh Gcuillinn was impressive too with a fast 28.87 recorded but I’ll go with Valderrama for trainer Martin Lanney.

the opening semi-final looks wide open. heat winner Youandmebabe came from last to first when winning in 29.00 so another effort like that is required.

I’ll go for Ballymac slick in trap six for team Dowling as he ran a good race behind Valderrama.

Dublin Cup finalist headinthewindow races in the finale for trainer Murt Leahy.

Unlucky

she is up in grade but with 10 wins on her card, she will put in a good spin. Gold Cup finalist neon nite will be fancied as he was unlucky at the first bend in the final for trainer Ian reilly against winner Boylesports Coco.

Foggy Bottom will be fast away no doubt from trap two but neon nite might just have the edge.

the time Greyhound nutrition Cork Cup Final takes place at Curraheen Park and I’ll be heading down.

I fancy Bambis Lady to take home the €5,000 prize for Miss Breda Boyle and Master Patrick sheehy.

she has been running out of her skin at the Munster track with consistent performances throughout the competition. Faypoint susie in trap three is a big danger.

the semi-finals of the €3,300

Kilbride Kennels Midlands Derby a2 550 take place at Mullingar Greyhound stadium with six greyhounds fighting for their spot in the final (March 10).

We were lucky enough to see the track record being smashed in the opening round by hawkfield abbie and last week in the second round we had an exciting dead heat between rathmoyle Gerry and Faypoint Jet.

all three of these greyhounds meet in the opening heat tonight with preference given to the John F Mcgee trained hawkfield abbie.

this well-bred daughter of Good news-brownstown tango clocked a stunning 29.91 in the opening round, setting a new track record over the 550 yards distance.

she missed the break last week but was strong on the run home to grab third place, only beaten two and a half lengths.

Ways

owned by Jerry Connors from newbridge, this lady has a stunning 4.71 sectional from these traps so I think she can return to winning ways in race 9.

there are dangers everywhere with aforementioned Faypoint Jet in trap one, who will be motoring home, and trap six rathmoyle Gerry for owner/ trainer John Fennelly.

no sock Gar in trap five is the dark dog in the race for Mairead Garrett after his 30.36 victory last week on just his sixth career start. More to come from this son of Malachi.

rough Frankie looks the one to beat in the second hear for trainer Kurtis Bain.
