JUST THE TONIC FOR KING YARD

- ■■Jason HEAVEY

PUNTERS could get a real tonic if they take a leap of faith in one of the big betting races at Kempton today.

TRITONIC (3.15, nap) is not an obvious winner of the Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Roseberry Handicap.

But he has the ability to pop up at a decent price for the Alan King yard.

He is an owner’s dream as he is effective on the Flat, over hurdles and fences.

In fact, it is just 17 months ago that Tritonic beat Goshen at Goodwood off a rating of 98.

He was also third in the Ascot Stakes last summer.

Today he races off 97 and has Hollie Doyle in the plate. He is a sporting punt at 12-1 to give punters a run for their money.

Filly

DEVOTED QUEEN (3.45) is 25-1 in ante-post lists for the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas and will have to win the conditions race to have any chance of making the line-up.

CHOISYA (2.05) is an improving filly and showed she enjoys the all-weather when beating Julia Augusta in a handicap back in November.

That rival reopposes on 6lb worse terms as Choisya is thrown into Listed company in the Virgin Bet-sponsored Snowdrop Stakes and she can make the step-up in class a seamless one.

In the opener at the Sunbury track KODI LION (1.30) is a tentative choice in an open looking maiden.

The ITV cameras have switched to Chelmsford and the Curragh after the cancellation of Kelso. Capulet will be a warm order in the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes at the Essex track but he could have made the market for BERGA-MASCO.

The three-year-old has thrived at Dundalk and was very impressive last time beating two rivals rated higher than him.

The 12-1 looks more appealing than the short price of Aidan O’brien’s (inset) raider who may well need the run on his seasonal debut.

Last year’s Derby third WHITE BIRCH (2.55) goes well fresh and can snare the Alleged Stakes at the Curragh.
