Doctor’s ECG test failure

-

BIRDWATCH Ireland is being investigated by the Charities Regulatory Authority.

Irish Wildbird Conservancy, a company limited by guarantee trading as BirdWatch Ireland and Registered Charity Number 20008963, is the largest independent conservation organisation in Ireland and works to protect birds and their habitats.

It is now being investigated by the Charities Regulator after concerns in relation to oversight and internal controls were raised between March and September 2019.

Review

Charities Regulator Chief Executive Helen Martin said: “In early 2021, as part of a review of open concerns, the Charities Regulator followed up with Birdwatch Ireland. During that engagement a matter of further concern was identified.

“While the Charities Regulator acknowledges Birdwatch Ireland’s engagement with it on the concerns raised, the Charities Regulator has determined a statutory investigation into the charity is warranted.”

A DOCTOR who failed to carry out an ECG test on a patient with chest pains who died a few days later was hit with a finding of poor professional performance.

Noel Mannix (56), an ex gym instructor in the Air Corps, died from a heart attack at his home in Newcastle, Co Dublin on November 19, 2016.

The Irish Medical Council’s fitness to practise committee found that Dr Ammar Alhassan of the Saggart Medical Centre in Saggart, Co Dublin had failed to carry out the test on Mr Mannix.

The Council recommended sanctions against Dr Alhassan which are not made public.
