‘KLOPP’S COST US PENOS’

MATTY CASH has revealed how he went from toy shop worker to Transforme­r in his quest to become a Premier League star. Aston Villa’s € 18.7m defender got in the gym and got down to it after suffering the heartbreak of being released by Wycombe as a 16-year- old.

Today he steps out in front of a packed Old Trafford to share the stage with Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cash, who scored a Goal of the Month contender against Everton last week, admits it’s hard to believe that just a few years ago his career looked to have hit a dead end.

But when Nottingham Forest gave him a chance, he quit his two weekend jobs at the toy store and River Island to pursue his dream and hasn’t looked back.

Cash is buzzing at how all his hard work has paid off, saying: “My career path to Ronaldo’s is definitely a bit different! the right calls very soon.

Referee Martin Atkinson turned down Ronaldo’s penalty appeals, but what angered Solskjaer even more was the failure of VAR to overturn those decisions.

“That’s quite an achievemen­t, actually,” said Solskjaer.

Since the start of last season, United were awarded six penalties in 17 Premier games, or one every 2.8 games.

But since Klopp’s (right) January outburst, that figure has dropped to five in 26 games, one every 5.2 games.
