CASH RECALLS HIS RISE TO TOP

- ■ ■DaveD ARMITAGER G

“I remember being in the room when I was released. They told me I wasn’t going to be big enough or strong enough so, yeah, it was a big setback.

“But I’m the type who wants to prove people wrong. I’ve managed to do that and playing at Villa is a dream come true.

“I never thought of quitting. I always had the mindset to keep going. It’s been a crazy journey so far and hopefully it just continues.”

Cash has one thing in common with the United superstar — he’s not afraid of hard graft and adds: “I really did a lot of stuff — gym work and training every day.

“I put in a lot of hard work and made sacrifices but it paid off.

“Massive games like this at an historic stadium like Old Trafford are the games you want to play in.

“We’re going there with some good form as well, so we’re going to United really confident. We can definitely go there and put on a show.

“Ronaldo is the greatest player of all time and to share the same pitch as him would be a real honour. But you’re trying to stop him at the same time.

“He switches about, but I think either side you play on you’re going to be in for a tough game regardless. I’ve just got to prepare right and make sure I’m ready for it.”

Cash ran towards his family after getting his first ever Villa goal last week, saying: “It was a great moment. They love it. It’s a great family day out.

Celebrate

“Trouble is, I have to try to get about 16 tickets for every away game now. But they’ve been there through thick and thin, so to celebrate with them was great. It would be nice to repeat it at Old Trafford. Thing is, I probably won’t know where they are.”
