Pleasure and Zain

Dawson can continue in style

RAY DAWSON can continue his rapid rise to the top with his first Group One victory at Newmarket.

He rides ZAIN CLAUDETTE (2.25) in a competitive looking Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes.

The pair have already bagged a Group Three and a Group Two — and have an outstanding chance of completing the full set.

Zain Claudette is tough, talented and uncomplicated, as she showed when beating the reopposing Sandrine by a length in the Lowther at York.

Ismail Mohammed’s stable star had earlier won the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot, and she is on an upward curve.

Excellent

Ger Lyons’ unbeaten Sacred Bridge will start favourite and is respected, while the consistent Desert Dreamer is an excellent each-way play at 14-1.

Richard Fahey could have an outstanding juvenile on his hands in the form of PERFECT POWER (3.00).

Christophe Soumillon flies in for the ride, and he was in the plate when the pair ran away with the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville last month. He holds Armor and Asymmetric on that form and should repel the Irish challengers Dr Zempf and HMS Endeavour.

Caturra was a good

York and is one for backers.

Royal Lodge

Stakes is a strong renewal and preference is for Andrew winne r place at

Balding’s B ldi ’ MASEKELA (1.50). (1 50) H He won a Listed race at Newbury2, but it’s his excellent second to Native Trail in the Superlative Stakes that looks the standout form.

The ITV cameras are also at Haydock, where the improving CRUYFF TURN (2.05) can bamboozle his rivals in the Betway Handicap.

He has improved 21lb this season and was desperately unlucky at Ayr last weekend, when he got no sort of run. It would be no surprise if David Allan reverts to front-running tactics on the son of Dutch Art, and he can be another winner for Tim Easterby.

Paul Mulrennan continues to fire in the winners and he has h a bi big chance h on JAWWAAL (2.40) (2 40) in i the Heed Your Hunch at Betway Handicap.

Michael Dods’ sprinter is tough and consistent, and Mulrennan will look to swoop fast and late.

Elsewhere, look out for BOOKMARK (4.55), who bolted up at Chester 15 days ago and returns to the track today.

Hayley Turner had an armchair ride on the filly that day and a 6lb rise in the weights should not stop the partnership from scoring again.

Finally, at Chelmsford, keep an eye on ARCLIGHT (6.30) in the juvenile maiden. He showed plenty of promise at Brighton on his last start and Mark Prescott — who bids for Group One glor y in Cologne tomorrow with Alpinista — should net another success.
