IRISH ANGLE

NAP OF THE DAY

DENIS HOGAN riding one he also trains is usually a good sign and DUNDEEDY LAD (3.25) catches the eye in the second division of the Kathleen Walsh Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Listowel today.

He’s just one win from 35 races but has run well in his previous two outings for Hogan’s 7lbs claimer cousin Jack.

He looked like winning at Galway last time out but didn’t get up the hill, so reverting back to 2m4f mightn’t be the worst idea.

EACH-WAY THIEF

BACKING Jessica Harrington blind is not bad advice as the Moone magician has saddled an amazing 23 winners this month alone in all codes.

She’s back at Listowel today and her six-yearold gelding JUNGLE JUNCTION (2.15) looks to have a strong eachway chance in the M. J. Carroll ARRO Handicap Hurdle.

This is his first hurdle race since Cheltenham back in November. Having done well over fences since, he might be able to successfully revert to the smaller obstacles.

ONE TO WATCH

MICHAEL HOURIGAN has been sending out winners at Listowel for many years and his ICEE M B A (2.50) can notch another in the Division I Kathleen Walsh Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

The unusual name comes from the initials of Hourigan’s seven grandchildren at the time she was bought, and she’s been a good moneyspinner over the summer, winning three times over hurdles and fences.

Ideally, she’d prefer a few furlongs more but loves good ground and hasn’t run a bad race all year.

ONE TO SWERVE

WILLIE MULLINS has been enjoying a very good festival at Listowel, but ANDALUSA (4.00) is not one of the stars of Closutton and is taken on in the Charlie Chute Memorial Handicap Chase.

She did win a novice chase here last year but that was her last victory and her form hasn’t been good recently.
