Eur likely to struggle!

As hosts, Arsenal are the favourites, but at anything up to 11-8, they are not exactly well fancied.

Tottenham (and the draw) are 9-4, but going on recent results, how can you pick a winner.

One thing about recent Spurs-Arsenal games has been a lack of goals, with no team scoring more than two in 16 of the last 17 Premier League encounters between the two.

I think this may follow somewhat of a similar pattern, and the 7-4 for the half-time score to be 0-0 looks a decent bet.

There should be goals, though, and while I won’t hazard a guess at the final score, or even who will win, I will take Son Heungmin at 2-1 to score at any time during the match.

While the wannabes meet up tomorrow, the big boys are in action this lunchtime as Manchester City go to a Chelsea side looking like the real deal in the title race.

But the champions are not exactly out of touch, despite a couple of off-results already. The Blues, though, can strike a real blow if they can win at Stamford Bridge.

The bookies make this an even game, with both sides at 17-10, and while Chelsea have been in great form, that price about City really tempts me.

They have not hit their stride so far, but you sense that they have paced themselves in the early going and are ready to up it a gear here.

I will go for City at 17-10 to make Thomas Tuchel’s side taste defeat for the first time this campaign.

Limitations

The late game sees Brentford host Liverpool at their new stadium and this will be a game that exposes their limitations.

Liverpool are not back where they were, but they have started pretty strongly and, perhaps more importantly, than the manner of their performances, they are coming away with wins in games that are expected to be victories — this didn’t happen last season.

I like the 11-8 that is available for Liverpool to win at -1 on the handicap.

As for the 3pm games, to be honest, not that much really tempts me, but I will have a look at Manchester United at home to Aston Villa.

Villa came up trumps for us last week against Everton, but I reckon they are probably in for a tough afternoon of it at Old Trafford.

United have it in them to make a run for the title, and the fact the big names have started well will keep Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men up to their task.

You won’t get very big odds on Cristiano Ronaldo being an anytime goalscorer, but you will on Paul Pogba. Those who study these things a bit more closely than I do say the Frenchman is in good form at the moment, and at 4-1 he is worth a punt to notch a goal at some point this afternoon.

Just before I wrap up, I’ll have a quick look at next week’s Champions League ties.

From Tuesday’s European games, I will have a bit of a punt on the draw at 31-10 in the match between Porto and Liverpool, while the big game of the day sees PSG host Manchester City.

With Lionel Messi a doubt, some of the intrigue may be gone, and I can see a stalemate in this one also at 13-5.

Barcelona have plenty of troubles at the moment, but they are my pick of the Wednesday matches. They are 6-4 to win at Benfica, which I think they will do. in association with inset)
