Antonio out to be golden boy

-

“That’s six in six so let’s keep going and let’s keep scoring.

“I definitely want to see my name at the top of the scoring charts – but hopefully at the end of the season.”

Unbelievable

Antonio was in the thick of things all afternoon and incurred the wrath of the Elland Road crowd following Tomas Soucek’s disallowed goal early in the second half.

The Jamaica international caught Meslier in the face with his arm before the ball dropped loose to Soucek to fire home. Referee Kevin Friend checked the monitor, which confirmed Antonio had fouled Leeds’ rookie keeper.

Angry Leeds fans felt Antonio should have been sent off for the challenge, but he was booked instead and grabbed the winner in the closing stages.

The 31-year-old 31 year old added with a huge smile: “It was unbelievable. There is nothing better than coming back from 1-0 down, especially against a quality team like Leeds because the way they play is completely different.

“It’s a game that’s always going to be enjoyable for the neutral.

“Playing against Leeds is like running a marathon – that’s exactly how I see it.

“I would never run a marathon and that’s the closest thing to it for me!

“They’re a quality team so to come away with three points is fantastic. The overriding feeling is relief.”

Gloom

For Leeds there was more doom and gloom g after defeat dumped them into the bottom three.

Worryingly, they have now failed to win any of their first six games of a top-flight campaign for only the second time in the club’s history.

Raphinha departed in the second half but Leeds boss Bielsa insisted: “It’s not that he came off injured.

“He picked up a knock against Newcastle which prevented him training all week but he resolved that and he could play the game. Then he advised us to substitute him.”
