CINEMAGOING fell by two-thirds in Ireland last year as COVID-19 regulations saw the closure of cinemas across the country. Cinemas shut from March due to the global pandemic and, in its annual report just published, the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) reveals European cinemas suffered a 70.4 per cent year- on-year drop to € 2.6 billion in box office revenues last year.
