Safe bet for cool kids
THE new imoo Watch Phone Z1 was developed specifically for children between five and 12, and focuses on safety and security.
It enables parents and guardians to keep in touch with children without the need for a smartphone.
You need to install a nano-SIM to get 4G support for real-time audio and video calls directly from the watch.
Parents or approved friends and family can communicate with the child through the imoo app over Wi-Fi or the 4G network.
The child can also make calls directly using the dialler app on the watch. For younger kids, you can set the watch to autoanswer calls from parents or guardians and reject calls from non-approved numbers.
Track
You can also use imoo to track and locate your child’s exact whereabouts, and set the app to let you know when your child is leaving or returning home.
One useful feature (which I only discovered after a 10-year-old in our family called me from her school yard) is class mode which can be set to ensure the watch won’t cause interruptions during class times.
Battery life got the thumbs up. On average, the watch lasted about three days.
My 10-year-old reviewer’s only quibble was the size, but for parents it’s got great communication, location and security features at an inexpensive price.
