Tommy has really grown on me

-

I CAN admit it now because I’ve been slowly changing my tune but when Tommy Dillon first joined FAIR CITY (RTE ONE, 8PM) I didn’t much like him.

It’s like Simon Cowell says on the X Factor ( R. I. P.), ‘you’re like Marmite — people will either love you, or hate you’.

Hate is a very strong word and one I usually save for when I’m talking about my feelings for Manchester United fans ( please don’t write in, answering emails is a full-time job already!) so I won’t say I hated Tommy but I wasn’t his biggest fan, let’s just say that.

He had some great storylines but he was just a bit too meh, wasn’t he?

Until now... now I can’t get enough of his character.

From his family breakdowns to his affairs and sleeping with jilted brides, he’s just great TV.

Tonight, he is suddenly very secretive about phone calls he’s getting which makes everyone a little suspicious, including me.

And when Sash and Dearbhla overhear Tommy and Carol arguing about Ritchie Lennon, everyone wants to know just what is going on.

But Tommy lies to Sash and Dearbhla about his involvement with Ritchie — and Sash, not knowing how deeply Tommy is involved in Ritchie’s dealings, fills Zak in on the consequences of his actions.

Later, though, Tommy comes to his senses and tells Sash the truth about his work for Ritchie.

How will she react? Elsewhere in Carrigstown, Orla doesn’t take well to Dolores prying into her private life.

But later Orla talks some sense into Wayne who begins to accept Orla’s relationship with Paul.
