Call to lift the rules on new mum visits

-

ANGRY protesters gathered in a call for an end to ongoing restrictions on partner visits in maternity wards.

More than 100 people including pregnant women, and new mothers such as Line Of Duty star Amy De Bhrun, gathered outside the Dail yesterday afternoon, calling for partner access to neo natal units to be restored to pre-pandemic levels.

Several TDs from all political parties attended the March for Maternity to offer support.

Campaign boss Linda Kelly from Better Maternity Care told the crowd: “We stand here in the rain, demanding better maternity care.”

Actress Amy De Bhrun said: “Many women’s needs for maternity care are not being met.”

Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien said he agreed with “open access” but that some decisions are made at local hospital level.
